AllMy Ledger vs QuickBooks Desktop

QuickBooks Desktop has been discontinued for new customers. If you're looking for a local-first desktop alternative that works the same way: your data on your computer, no internet needed. AllMy Ledger is the natural next step.

What happened to QuickBooks Desktop?

Intuit stopped selling QuickBooks Desktop Pro and Premier to new customers in September 2024. Existing subscriptions will be supported until May 2027 at the latest. After that, no more security patches, bug fixes, or updates.

Intuit wants everyone on QuickBooks Online, their cloud subscription. But if you liked QB Desktop because it was local, offline, and yours, then a cloud subscription is exactly what you didn't sign up for.

AllMy Ledger works the same way: local files, no internet required. It costs $149 once and doesn't expire.

Why switch to AllMy Ledger

Still available

QB Desktop is no longer sold. AllMy Ledger is actively developed, with regular updates and new features.

One-time purchase

$149 and it's yours. QB Desktop required annual subscription renewals. AllMy Ledger works forever.

Same offline experience

Your data stays on your computer. No cloud dependency, no internet required. Just like QB Desktop, but modern.

Runs on Mac and Linux too

QB Desktop was Windows-only. AllMy Ledger runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux with the same features on every platform.

Easy migration

Import your QuickBooks Desktop data in minutes with the built-in migration wizard. Accounts, contacts, and transactions come over.

Simple Mode

If you found QB Desktop intimidating, Simple Mode uses plain language like "Money In" instead of "Accounts Receivable." Switch to Accountant Mode anytime you need full control.

What changes when you switch

QB Desktop had a few features AllMy doesn't include. Most aren't needed for solo freelancers:

Payroll: AllMy doesn't do payroll. Use Gusto or Patriot alongside for a few employees.

Inventory: AllMy has basic item tracking only. Works fine for service businesses, less ideal for product-based businesses.

Direct bank feeds: AllMy imports OFX/QFX files manually instead of connecting to your bank directly. Still reconciles accurately.

QB Desktop is gone. Your data doesn't have to be.

Import your QuickBooks data and keep working. $149 once. No subscription, ever.
